Date: Monday, October 8th
Time: 6pm to 8pm (superbuzzy open at 5pm)
Location : superbuzzy (directions)
We are thrilled to announce that Alissa Haight Carlton, co-founder of The Modern Quilt Guild, will be our October guest speaker. For this special guest meeting, it’s free to paid (dues) VMQG members and $5 for guests.
The Winter Tree Block Exchange will be the first thing we do during our meeting. Make sure you have your blocks ready to exchange them.
Don’t forget your blocks for our October block challenge. The October challenge was to create a quilt block using negative space in an interesting and innovative way. The block should follow the “modern quilting aesthetic”.
Please RSVP by leaving a comment.
We might be short on chairs for this meeting. If you can bring your own portable chair it would be greatly appreciated!
superbuzzy will be open at 5pm to give you a chance to browse and pick up any last-minute goodies!

I’m in.
In!
Does anyone have a fine-tip fabric pen in black so I can “sign” my blocks before the meeting next Monday? I am a bit cash-poor so I thought I’d ask before buying one.
Maureen is bringing along a ‘Pigma Micron 01′ (Brown) .25mm Sorry, no black.
that will do nicely! thank you!
I’m there!
I would like to come, it will be my first meeting-what should I bring?
Hey Barbara, thanks for joining us! You should bring: $5, a folding chair (if you have one and don’t mind hauling it in), and a quilt-related project for ‘Show and Tell’. One caveat though: we might not get around to ‘show and tell’ during this meeting due to our guest speaker. Now, for extra credit, you could try bringing in a quilt block that meets the guidelines of our block challenge for the month (please see the description in the meeting details above).
Hi Andres, thanks for quick answer, I think I will be able to bring a chair. Will work on a block, is there a completed block size?
Howdy Barbara. Unless specifically stated you can make the block any size you want. I default to making mine 12 1/2 x 12 1/2.
I’m coming too!
Looking forward to going to my second meeting. Enjoyed the first meeting very much.
Welcome back, Sue!
I will be at the meeting, thanks for the reminder. Karolynn Skelly
AARRRGGH
grad school imploded, one instructor left, someone tried to blow up the building (and, as an architect student, he was pretty good at knowing the weak spot… and so its crazy times. Means I definitely need some cool people and fun times- will try to get there!
Um, I think I’m going to go out on a limb here and say: No explosives at our meetings.
Finally can attend! Need to join. Checks are ok?
Georganna
Checks are PERFECT (we don’t currently accept credit cards / online payments). Cash is fine as well.
See ya Monday!
Alright!
